First Contact itself came when a turian patrol group encountered human ships attempting to open Relay 314. Humanity, being unaware of any of this, had been merrily opening the Relays it found and exploring whatever was on the other side. At the time, the relay was closed and after the war with the Rachni, the Council had emplaced a ban on the opening of new Relays. First Contract took place at what the Citadel Council designated Relay 314.
